Employers are eager to stock up on talent as optimism continues to grow, a new Employment Office survey reveals.
An online poll revealed 84 per cent of voters agree now is the right time to up staff in preparation for the market upturn, with only 16 per cent of voters remaining cautious.
According to the recruitment marketing specialist, the results coincide with increased numbers of recruitment campaigns, particularly in the healthcare and community sectors.
Managing director of Employment Office, Tudor Marsden-Huggins, said as the job market gains strength and recruitment confidence increases, employers must prepare to sharpen their tactics.
“The ABS reported that Australia is one of the few economies to see a drop in unemployment since the dawn of the global financial crisis,” he said.
“This is obviously good news, however, as the job market gains strength and hiring intentions grow, employers must prepare to once again compete for the top candidates”.
Mr Marsden-Huggins said heightened competition will place a renewed focus on recruitment marketing strategies.
“The past few months have been defined by a deluge of job seeker applications. Few vacancies resulted in tough competition among candidates, and employers could pick from an overflowing talent pool,” he said.
“Now, as the number of job advertisements increases, it is the employers who will have to invest in their recruitment campaigns and attraction strategies if they are to preserve their popularity among job seekers”.
