Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology

"The Employment Office process was great to use and it has considerably reduced the stress of recruiting."

Challenge

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is a well established pathology clinic, servicing the east coast of Australia for over 50 years. The organisation has approx 2,500 employees across the Brisbane metro, QLD and NSW regional areas. They wanted to streamline their recruitment procedures, achieve more hiring control, make better hiring decisions, and decrease recruitment spend.

Some of the challenges they faced were:
  • Positions advertised individually by each separate branch - reduced time- and cost-efficiency
  • Too many advertising campaigns running simultaneously, with little control
  • Increasing costs per campaign, though low quality candidates

Solution

  • SNP signed a 24 mth proposal with EO for 5 campaigns per month. All branches used EO for all recruitment, which streamlined their process and improved consistency
  • EO created a career website and branded application form, job board templates and print templates to improve SNP's employer brand recognition (http://sullivan.applynow.com.au)
  • EO's unique recruitment strategy, with customised online screening questions for each role, assisted SNP in "comparing apples with apples" when making recruitment decisions and improved the effectiveness of recruitment decisions
  • EO provides SNP with discounted and targeted advertising campaigns to minimise overall costs
  • All vacancies handled by EO to avoid over-advertising and initiated by single SNP central individual to achieve control

Results

  • Reduced costs from approx $1,800 for single newspaper advertisement to less than $2,500 for an entire campaign (including EO service, job board advertising, newspaper advertising)
  • Have hired nearly 100 new employees with an average cost per hire of approx. $1000 in the 10/11 financial year
  • Combined resources to create more centralised approach
  • Increased brand awareness and quality application numbers – most positions now attract up to 100 applicants each
  • Quality increased through greater candidate control through
  • Recruitment Management Systems.
